Before becoming a financial planner, I worked as a teacher and then as a school administrator overseeing HR, including recruiting and hiring teachers. Working in HR revealed a lot about the financial lives of employees, and that’s where I got interested in finding ways to help educators and other everyday people get their financial lives on track. I also started working with a fee-only financial planner myself and found it life changing. Those two experiences led me to becoming a financial planner myself and starting Deliberate Finances. When I’m not working, you’ll find me running or biking around New Orleans, watching way too many hours of tragic Minnesota sports teams (usually on the couch with our dog Madison or cat Oliver), or tinkering on some new project around the house.
