Before becoming a financial planner, I worked as a teacher and then as a school administrator overseeing HR, including recruiting and hiring teachers. Working in HR revealed a lot about the financial lives of employees, and that’s where I got interested in finding ways to help educators and other everyday people get their financial lives on track. I also started working with a fee-only financial planner myself and found it life changing. Those two experiences led me to earning a certificate in financial planning from L.S.U. and starting Deliberate Finances. When I’m not working, I’m usually making silly faces at my son, running or biking around New Orleans, or watching way too many hours of tragic Minnesota sports teams.
